October 2nd: Meissen & Dresden

After departing Prague we made the relatively short journey north to Dresden today, less than one hundred miles.  Along the way we stopped shortly in the town of Meissen to visit the factory home of the world famous porcelain.
During our stop we enjoyed a wonderful 'Coffee, Tea, & Chocolate' expose complete with more cake than we could possibly eat, then took a private tour of the Meissen museum including demonstrations by skilled craftsmen & women.  Afterwards there was time to shop or have lunch, though most people had their fill of cake!
After arriving in Dresden late in the afternoon we checked-in for our two night stay before enjoying plenty of time to relax before our included group dinner.

Our hotel Steigenberger de Saxe was in the very center of the city, facing the Frauenkirche, so folks were able to take a stroll before or after dinner to experience this reborn city first hand.
